Playing without tension isn't possible though I've been trying so hard for years but nothing. Giutar teachers think that because they can do it then anyone can. Not everyone has those special muscles you need to be born with with to do it and to play guitar you must have them. It's not fucking fair and I hate giutarists

1.not over value sweep picking, because it's prepared lick. 2.learn small arp. instead. 3.sound-wise, sometimes you'll need that soft attack from economic picking,so it's best learn case by case

JESUS CHRIST! ALL NOTES ARE GIFTS FROM THE GOOD CREATOR, I THINK AND I AM GRATEFUL FOR THAT. I APOLOGISE FOR ANY ERRORS OR MISTAKES. LET US ALL TRY TO BE EXTREMELY CAREFUL WHEN WE USE WORDS AND LET US ALL RESPECT ALL. THANK YOU. FORGIVE THOSE WHO MISBEHAVED.

Another aspect of this is whether or not one's ear is used to hearing those outside, dissonant notes. There are harmonies that sound good to me, but some other musicians think they're wrong. The flat 5 was considered devil's music a couple hundred years ago.

This gentleman is a brilliant musician.. but not doing here what has been promised: discussion or even basic clarification of the profound effect of intervals. He demonstrates excellently the qualities of certain pitches in relation to certain chords, but does not define the specific INTERVALS that he is playing - or what the distance is between a tonal center and a given note, for example, in order to better understand how these intervals can be used in context of any key. I also don't approve of the description of any interval/note as simply sounding wrong or bad - everything must be put in proper context, and I believe that Mr. Govan knows this. Despite these problems, as I see it, his talk and playing are very thought provoking and stimulating. I am always impressed with his magnificent artistry.

My immediate thoughts upon hearing Guthrie saying that all notes are valid were about Rodrigo’s ‘Concierto de Aranjuez’ where there are some decidedly Phrygian chords and phrases, which upon first hearing, invoke "No one wants to hear that." But there's an educational aspect, where repeated listening, in context, brings about an understanding, appreciation and ultimately resulting in its being something that everyone wants to hear.

People think using many words is intelligent, I think the opposite. Tension and release is what creates human's most sought after things, a rollercoaster, a thriller movie, even exercising. And in music, this tension and release comes in the form of consonance/dissonance from the root note, it's even rooted in a based math system (Pythagorean), the psychology might be interesting, but the base interaction of force upon human emotions is a relation seen in most things in life, we like to feel good, and we feel better if occasionally we feel like shit.
